With over 7000 combinations of Shock
Absorbing Lanyards available,
Buckingham surely has one that will fit
your application perfectly. Their line-up offers
the largest variety of deceleration and
attachment devices available.
For a full listing of Buckingham's Shock
Absorbing Lanyards options, please see the
Fall Protection catalog.
One of the most popular styles of lanyard,
the deceleration lanyard, reduces the
impact force of a 220 pound (100 Kg) steel
mass to less than 900 pounds (318 Kg) in a
six-foot (1.8 m) free fall. By contrast,
in the same test, the arrest force of a
rope lanyard is in the area of 2400 Ibs.
(1089 Kg) and 2800 Ibs. (1270 Kg) for a
web lanyard. Shock absorbing lanyards are
not intended for work positioning,
suspension or retrieval. When 600 Ibs. of
force is exerted, the Buckingham shock
absorbing lanyard begins to deploy and can
extend an additional 3 1/2 feet (1.1 m)
maximum, before completely arresting the
fall.
Shock absorbing lanyards that have been
partially activated should be taken out of
service and destroyed.

Buck-Stretch Style

The New Buck-Stretch feature is available
on all of Buckingham's shock absorbing
lanyards. It allows the user to have
automatic adjustability with less than 7
lbs. of pull to the users attachment
point. The Buck-Stretch allows for 28
inches of adjustability. No more tripping
on your lanyard! (The picture above shows
the Buck-Yard Stretch lanyards with one
extended to 6' compared to 4' when
relaxed)
|
|
The Buck-Yard Stretch (Model No.
8VV716) has a built in shock absorber in a
stretchable lanyard and has locking snap
hooks at each end. During a fall when the
elastic has reached its' full length, the
shock absorbing packet will deploy
reducing arresting force to less than 900
lbs. |
|
|
The Buck-Stop Stretch shown to the
right (Model No. 54L716), is a compact
design for use with a harness that has a
nylon loop attachment for the fall
arresting device. The shock pack is sealed
into a durable clear heat shrink tubing
allowing visual inspection of the
decelerator. |
|
|
The Buck-Arrest Stretch (Model No.
64L716), has an elongated shock absorbing
packet to minimize the size of the
decelerator. A nylon tube covers the
decelerator packet and provides an
indication for the packet that has been
partially deployed. |
|
|
The Buck-Yard Stretch (Model No.
84V716), has the shock absorber built into
the lanyard. The most popular and compact
of the Buck Stretch lanyards, the weight
of the shock absorber is distributed
across the entire length. |
|
|
The Dual Buck Stretch (Model No.
546716RDR) is designed for persons that
would be moving to various anchorage
points for their job's duties. Also the
Buck Stretch lanyards are attached to the
locking snap by means of a red rescue
loop. The loop is designed to aid a self
rescue or a rescue team, once attached to
a rescue rope, a point in which to cut
loose from the anchorage point.
This lanyard is equipped with the Model
No. 3130 Locking Ladder Snap. We have many
other
locking snaps to choose from.
